We meet Margaret

Gladys and her daughter, Margaret, take the boys in.

Margaret has a relationship with the Sheriff and he investigates the boys' story and persuades the Judge not to send them to an orphanage.

The boys don't trust the sheriff and they sneak out to the general store where they offer to haul cargo to Lone Pine.

Halfway through the negotiations Ethan decides he wants to return to Gladys and Margaret. Elliot decides to haul the cargo without Ethan knowing.
